EACO Friendly Honey

Overview

Developing the World

EACO Friendly Honey is the first venture for EACO Friendly and will process honey for the community.

Bee Hive

The primary purpose of the Honey Beekeepers Project (HBP) is to provide EACO beneficiaries with new skills that will allow them to improve their income generating capabilities to gradually become income self-sufficient allowing and allow them to escape the poverty trap and achieve more humane and dignified living conditions.

The secondary goal of the HBP project is to provide EACO Friendly  with a source of revenue with which it will be able to supplement donor provided funding for its continued operation and socially oriented projects.

EACO has identified a population of about 200 potential beneficiaries who could benefit from the program and who would be interested in producing natural honey and wax as a means of income.

EACO Friendly proposes to create a value chain of beekeepers and bee sourced products where production would be primarily be done by rural beekeepers. Under an honest and fair sharecropper's agreement these beekeepers would sell their honey and wax through EACO Friendly who would operate as a value added processing, packaging and marketing organization. The packaged product would be distributed and sold primarily through beneficiaries in the urban areas where the market opportunities are believed to be more favorable. A distribution and sales agreement will form the basis of the relationship between these beneficiaries and EACO Friendly.

It is common knowledge that sharecropper’s agreements have been fraught with irregularities and abuses, but EACO Friendly firmly believes that these irregularities have to do with who the players are and their attitudes towards each other and not with the concept.

In the future we hope to engage with entrepreneurial certified professionals, local communities or landowners to jointly share in the development of micro businesses in honey farming. The model is almost infinitely extendable to any community. Any locally based certified entrepreneurs are welcome to contact us .
