EACO Friendly Suspends Operations in Uganda

In a press statement today, Geoffrey Brown, co-founder of this social enterprise, said:

Unfortunately, due to the inaction of GoBigHub.com and its owner Ojijo Pascal, we are having to cease further investment in new sustainable business in rural Uganda. Neither entity has complied with signed agreements we have with them for the repayment of loans. This is at the same time as they have financial interests in nanwapi.com and Nyadiedo, both micro loan companies and Infosis (not to be, but easily confused with Infosys the famous Indian company) who operate the money transfer business branded as Poketi.

The loan and interest money, some of which should have been repaid last year, was to be used to fund projects around Uganda which would bring employment to local people, bring cash, trade and knowledge to local communities and take people out of poverty. These cannot now go ahead.

Ojijo Pascal claims I am harming his organisation. I say it is he that is harming everyone.

For other reasons I have reported Ojijo to the UPF for threatening behaviour and intend to report him for financial maladministration. Click here for more details

I advise people to be very careful before contemplating an investment or even borrowing from this sort of organisation. Be warned!

Geoffrey Brown is a philanthropist who seeks to create wealth in the poorest sectors of society by creating sustainable businesses in Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda.
