with an emphasis on helping the dispossessed.

About EACO Friendly

Overview

Developing the World

"EACO Friendly" is an African enterprise which initially owned and operated a honey farm in the Namanganga community, Uganda. We are now engaging with entrepreneurial certified professionals, local communities and landowners in Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda to jointly share in the development of micro businesses.

We currently have arrangements in 17 enterprises in such areas as agriculture, fish farming, tourism, logistics, air time, mobile banking and micro lending and hope to develop further businesses in model farming, healthcare, education,  renewable energy, manufacturing, value added projects and water supply.

At first hand these may seem a disparate assortment of businesses but we facilitate the entire business process from manufacture to point of sale, from business plan to business finance, from apprentice to manager. The model is almost infinitely extendible to any community.

EACO Friendly is a combination of joint ventures developing opportunities for local communities and especially their dispossessed people.

Why EACO Friendly?

Mukono District of Uganda is one of the poorest areas in Uganda. A similar position exits in rural areas around Kilimanjaro and in Malawi. People exist using subsistence agriculture and little else.

As a result of past conflicts and the prevalence of HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Pneumonia and Tuberculosis there are many dispossessed people including children and the elderly.

Often, due to a missing generation, children are cared for by their grandparents or distant relatives.

To move communities out of this situation we are developing micro businesses.

Geoff Brown

Geoff Brown first visited Uganda on holiday in February 2014. Beside the many smiling faces and shouts of  "muzungo, muzungo" he found the poverty, especially amongst the dispossessed, disconcerting.

As part of his social responsibility committment Geoff started working with Empower and Care Organisation (EACO) attempting to obtain funds for a wide range of projects from health to education.

He worked alongside EACO in Mukono in February 2015 and lived with a Ugandan family and jointly shares the ambitions of EACO.

This year he worked in Tanzania at the Sure Starts Children Centre and visited the Kilimanjaro area.

He has invested in fish farms and agriculture aiming to bring a wide range of projects under the umbrella of the EACO Friendly family in partnership with the joint venture partners.

Our Community Partners

Together we will engage with:

  • local communities or landowners,

  • suppliers and

  • sponsors

and, hopefully, jointly share in the development of micro businesses in such areas as:

We will provide:

  • The necessary funds for the first year of business, either directly or via sponsors.

  • Management expertise in developing the individual businesses

  • Sales and marketing support to producer businesses developing the market and sourcing orders

  • Buying support to sales businesses obtaining the lowest prices for quality products

  • Mentoring to professionals to develop their skills

Thus allowing them to practice their recent learning and learn from us to become rounded entrepreneurs.

The model is almost infinitely extendable to any community.

Our Expert Entrepreneurs

We do not expect our experts to be knowledgeable in all areas of business but expert in  their chosen field.

Given this, EACO Friendly will manage the interelationships between the seperate business, communications, sales and marketing.

We do expect our experts to bring to an interview a viable business plan which we can first challenge then use in the business.

We also expect our experts to share knowlege with the community and employ apprentices to spread their knowledge.

Any locally based certified entrepreneurs are welcome to contact us regarding the above or any other ideas they have for sustainable businesses
